Why Is Dust Coming From My Air Vents?
By Duct Care Expert TeamJuly 8, 20264 min read

If you notice dust blowing from supply registers or gray rings staining your ceilings, your ventilation ducts are heavily contaminated. When return lines pull in household dust, it compiles inside the duct trunks, blowing back out when the blower fan starts.
Other causes include air filter bypass (when filters are cheap or ill-fitting) and leaks in your return ductwork, which pull in dusty attic or crawlspace air. Regular register sweeping and upgrading to pleated filters stops this process.
Extracting this settled dirt improves your HVAC heat exchange and lowers energy costs by restoring clean, unobstructed airflow.
